How to Choose the Best Natural Skin Care Ingredients
Even if a product claims to be natural, you need to check the ingredients to make sure you are actually getting the best natural skin care ingredients. Many consumers are becoming more educated on skin creams because they are tired of putting products on their skin that just do not work as advertised.
You need to educate yourself so that you avoid applying harmful chemicals to your skin. Most of the brand name products on the market today contain ingredients and preservatives that could be harmful to your skin. Parabens are added to some products to act as a preservative. Tests have shown that parabens can cause cancer. Fragrances are added and they can be irritable to your skin. A skin care cream does not require a fragrance.
Parabens and fragrances are not natural skin care ingredients. If your product contains either of these ingredients then avoid using these products at all costs. Now, you are likely wondering what skin care ingredients work and what are they called.
I will not use a product that does not contain natural skin care ingredients. One of the best natural substances used is called phytessence wakame. Most people have never heard of this. It is used in skin care products in Europe and the Southern Hemisphere. It is derived from a type of Japanese sea kelp. In fact, residents of Japan also use it in their diet.
Even though you will not find it in products in North America, it is available online from a high-end natural skin care company in New Zealand. In fact, many of their customers are from the United States.
The benefits of using phytessence wakame are impressive. It helps to restore the vital protein levels in your skin, which give it the texture and elasticity associated with younger skin.
You may not have heard of Cynergy TK, but it is another of the best natural skin care ingredients available. It is high in functional keratin, which is a vital skin protein that helps to restore the natural proteins in your skin. This natural substance is derived from the wool of sheep in New Zealand.
My website has more information on the best natural skin care ingredients used in the best skin creams in the world.

On the surface, it might seem logical that an oil free anti-aging facial moisturizer is a good moisturizing and anti-aging solution for our skin, but the reality is very different.

It also creates an invisible film of protection on your skin which helps prevent the skin’s natural moisture from escaping outside. This film also prevents dirt and grime from entering within your skin.

How Safe are Natural Health Products?
Natural health products are often promoted as safer, more effective, and less likely to have side effects than prescription drugs. It should be noted that internationally, natural health products are regulated on the basis of safety and quality and to varying degrees, efficacy. They are defined (in Canada) as: Vitamins and minerals, Herbal remedies, Homeopathic medicines, Traditional medicines, such as traditional Chinese medicines, Probiotics, and other products like amino acids and essential fatty acids. Natural Health Products are closely related to drugs, and have begun to be regulated in order to control health claims being made by products not classified as drugs, but are taken for reasons above and beyond simple caloric intake.
There are many more aspects of the body’s health and well being that can be enhanced when nutritional natural health products are added to a balanced diet. Natural health products are your fresh organic food products, fruits, vegetables & meats, food (dietary) supplements, preparations for skin and hair care. Unlike pharmaceuticals that must undergo rigorous testing and analysis, natural health products are not governed by the same regulations.
Incidences of harm caused by natural health products are statistically pretty insignificant, less than one in 100 000 by some measures, and extremely rare even by the numbers of the Fraser Institute. That’s because natural health products are, though physiologically active, not drugs. . They are available for self-care and self-selection, and do not require a prescription to be sold. Natural health products are regarded as dietary supplements and are not required to pass strict registration processes as would be expected of prescription drugs. In 1997 the Canadian government conducted a public review of natural health products and developed a separate regulatory framework to supervise them. As a result Health Canada created a new category called Natural Health Products and a new regulating authority was established to govern the sale of NHP’s in Canada called the Natural Health Products Directorate.
Natural Health Products can have potent effects on the body. Although herbal products are advertised as “natural,” they aren’t natural to the human body. They include supplements which, in many cases, are made from traditional or specialty crops, seafood and aquaculture. Natural health products in the US are generally regulated as dietary supplements and fall under the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA). Natural Remedies are sold in grocery stores, pharmacies and health food stores and they do not require prescriptions from a doctor. Will changes to the Food and Drugs Act result in a ban on natural health products. Will this change mean a prescription will be required for natural health products, like Vitamin C. Sometimes the most natural solution is a healthy diet and taking the time to rest when you are sick.

Beyond tretinoin: cosmeceuticals for aging skin.
J Drugs Dermatol. 2009 Jul; 8(7): 674-7
Bergstrom KG
In contrast to youthful skin, mature skin undergoes well-established clinical and microscopic changes, particularly after menopause. In particular, dermal thinning, loss of dermal collagen and decreased lipid production are complicated by the effects of life-long sun exposure. These changes manifest as wrinkling, loss of elasticity, dryness and textural changes that characterize mature skin. To effectively combat these age- and sun-related changes, a multifaceted approach is required. Any treatment for mature skin must address the many causes of skin changes, that is, collagen production, lipid balance and epidermal texture. Several currently available compounds have scientifically-established effects on skin, and are anticipated to be even more effective in combination. Women worldwide struggle with coming to terms with their aging skin, and seek ways to preserve its youthful appearance. While dermatologists’ offices may offer tretinoin cream (Renova and related products), laser resurfacing approaches, volume fillers and Botox, demand also exists for topical products that preserve and improve skin tone. With the push toward “natural,” “organic” and “herbal” products, public and private research has never generated more evidence for complementary therapy. During skin aging, and particularly menopause, characteristic changes occur. Topical compounds can target many aspects of the aging process. The following is a review of topical compounds that may help with particular parts of this process. How can different problems be approached? In addition to prescription approaches and physical modalities, several topical compounds, many available over the counter, show evidence for helping aged and photo-damaged skin. Clinical data exist for many of these compounds, and is divided by mechanism of action.
